Hong Kong Trip - Ocean Park (2nd Nov 2008)

This was a amazing and fun trip to Ocean Park. The day we visited Ocean Park was the last day for Halloween Bash Party. The party began on 5.30pm until midnight. We decided to visit the Halloween Bash Party as well as Ocean Theme Park. When I had first arrived around 9am (seeing the beginnings of Halloween decorations being put up), I realized that the Hong Kongis do really celebrate Halloween.

We started our exploration from the main entrance. Along the way to the Kid World, we saw Halloween decorations in the entire park such as webbing, artificial fog/smoke and pumpkins. We took some photos in the Kid World including the Spooky Castle which we didn't expected the castle was opened on the day time.

After that, we took the cable car to the Marine land which located on the headland. We went to the Ocean Theater for the show "Sea Dreams!" - an inspirational aquatic adventure featuring a stellar cast of sea lions, dolphins and trainers. Then we continue our journey to the Sea Jelly Spectacular, the Pacific Pier to see the seals and sea lions and the Atoll Reef which has been designed with Indo-Pacific Coral Island theme. Chinese Sturgeon Aquarium also provided me a great experience with this China national treasure and learn more about their habitat and behavior. We also paid a visit to Ocean Park Tower enjoying the stunning view of South China Sea.

After that we took the cable car went down to the lowland garden. We paid a visit to The Hong Kong Jockey Club Giant Panda Habitat. We saw the Giant Pandas Le Le, Ying Ying, An An and Jia Jia there. When we arrived, Giant Pandas talk was just started. The speaker talked about the history and characteristic of each Giant Panda. An An is the most active Giant Panda among the fours. He is really cute especially when he ate the bamboos. Then we went to Sky Fair for the show. After the show it was around 5.30pm, I realized that the crowds was increased. The haunted attractions for Halloween Bash Party were just begun.

We passed through the Subterranean Spiritland to Cable Car Station. It was fun when walked along the Spiritland. Maybe because of the sky still bright so the amotphere of the road was not so scary. We took the cable car back to headland and then we went toward the Tai Shue Wan entrance. We went to Monster Gathering and met actors who dress up in monster/ghost costumes fully made up and looking quite grimacing. They stay in character and roam around the park and open for pictures. I took a lot of photos with the actors. I had also been scared by them. They suddenly pop out of my back and scared me when I was queued to enter the haunted house. I was never really safe of scares as they also play spooky music with shrills, children's laughter, and general halloween scary sounds. But I had a lot of fightfully fun moments in this Halloween Bash Party.

Due to the time constraints, we only managed to visit some of the haunted attractions such as Ghastly Entertainment City, Spooky Radio Station, The Canton Case, Deconstruction zone, The next super undead, The tomb of Doom, Shocks' n Shots Zone, the shows such as Devil Judger and the demon wedding ceremony. The shows were great and amazing.

Check out the monster pictures. Definitely a unique experience. Too crowded though.. sign of getting "older"
